Volunteers are absolutely key to the work of the Royal Signals Museum. We're currently recruiting for the following roles:

There is no need to have any specialist knowledge of the history of the Royal Corps of Signals. Indeed, for some of our team, the Museum was their first introduction to the Corps. If you do have specialist knowledge or experience with the Corps, we’ll put that to good use. Our team of experts will support your journey, providing valuable training and a friendly community.
Flexible volunteer opportunities are available to fit with your schedule, as well as a limited number of remote volunteering roles. Help us preserve and celebrate the rich heritage of the Royal Corps of Signals.
CALLING ALL VETERANS
Do you have memories of recent deployments to the Balkans, Sierra Leone, Afghanistan or Iraq? We're encouraging veterans to come forward and share their stories of service and success.
Oral history provides a more accurate picture of the past. It adds human depth to our understanding. With the support of the Corps Executive Body and Royal Signals Trustee Ltd (RSTL), the Royal Signals Museum has established an oral history collection to fill gaps in its archive holdings.
You’ll meet with an experienced interviewer (either in-person or remotely) for a brief and relaxed chat. You will be in full control over the direction of the interview and can opt out of any question by signalling your wish to move on. This discussion will be recorded by audio only.
After an interview takes place, the Royal Signals Museum will generate a transcript. You will get sight of this transcript so that you can make amendments or ask that portions are closed to access. The Museum will also put the interview through a sensitivity review process.
WAR GRAVES PROJECT
In 2020, at the time of the Royal Corps of Signals centenary, Stewart May embarked on a new project to improve our records of Royal Signals soldiers who died whilst serving in the First World War or Second World War.
Stewart has produced maps marking the grave sites in the following locations (click to access):
- United Kingdom
- Northern and Eastern Europe (excluding the UK)
- Sourthern and Western Europe
- South Africa
- The Middle East and North Africa
- Northern and Eastern Asia
- South Eastern Asia
- United States of America
In support of Stewart's work, we are asking you to help us collect images of all Royal Signals headstones and memorials around the world.
